Our event was an enjoyable day with roughly 13 people in attendance, both paid participants and instructors. Sara Broers and I came right out of the chute with a program on Facebook Advertising. While that BOOST button looms large, I showed the participants MANY ways to save money and just post content that encourages engagement.
Sara discussed Twitter for Business and Christy Adams talked about getting that perfect photo shot!
The afternoon featured a panel of Social Media Stars of North Iowa, including Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley, Kara Ruge from Cerro Gordo Public Health and Jay Brooks from KISS Country Radio! All had a different story to tell, but could tie each one of them back to Social Media.
Jeff talked about new efforts that the Police Department is making to relate to their audience, while at the same time taking tips from those who have information about crimes.
Kara said that while Public Health walked a fine line due to HIPAA, they were able to provide the community with needed health information.
Jay had several irons in the fire with his Thursday Night, “Beer With Brooks” and his Iowa Crossroads tour with Harry O.
Sara came back in the afternoon with Instagram for your business. #Hashtags were featured and she showed the importance of them to keep your photos relevant.
I had some fun with the group with a presentation about Making Video Work for Social Media. I poked some fun at Facebook Live and showed a few good and bad examples.
We wrapped up the day with a general question and answer discussion. The lunch was wonderful and provided by Butcher’s Steakhouse!
We look forward to more events in the future, so visit the page to get the latest and keep up with us on Facebook!
